Ona means wave, and this is where you come to catch your breath. A two-storey beachfront villa on Koh Samui’s quiet north coast, with a private pool and the sea beyond it. Both bedrooms are upstairs and ensuite. The Ocean Suite frames the water from the bed and the freestanding bath. Below, a kitchen around a fifteen-foot island, a sunken lounge, a table for six, and outside the pool, a shaded sala and loungers on the sand. Blackout curtains in both bedrooms, so the sunrise is optional.

The bedrooms Both are upstairs, which is where the view is. A king and a queen, each with its own ensuite. It sleeps four, and we’ve resisted the urge to squeeze in more. Downstairs A kitchen built around a fifteen-foot island, a sunken lounge, and a table for six. The sliders open the whole floor to the pool. The pool Four and a half metres long and a metre and a half deep the whole way across, so it's built for cooling off and floating rather than lengths. If you want to properly swim, the sea is twenty steps further on. The pool stays lit after dark, and while it isn't fenced, the sliding doors close it off from inside, which parents tend to appreciate. The beach Bang Por is honest about its tides. It draws back in the mornings and at certain times of year, so afternoons are when you swim in the sea. The pool doesn’t have that problem. Eating in We hold the villa’s food and alcohol licences, so a private chef can cook for you here properly. Most guests do it at least once. Tell us what you like and we’ll arrange it. The road There’s a road behind the villa. We built to keep it quiet, and most guests never notice. If you do, the view is a fair trade. The details Electricity, water and WiFi are included. Most villas here bill you for power on the way out, which is a strange way to say goodbye. Check-in is self-guided, so come whenever your flight lands, and we’re five minutes away if you need us.

Traveling as a group Swell, our other villa, is two minutes along the same sand. Two bedrooms, both ensuite, directly on the beach. Families and groups often take both, which gives you four bedrooms across two houses and nobody sharing a bathroom. Tell us your dates and we’ll hold them together. The pool Service comes once a week and takes about twenty minutes. You don’t need to be here or do anything. Parties and events No parties, and we ask guests to keep to quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. If you’re planning something more considered, a dinner for friends or a small celebration, just ask. We can usually make it work, and we’d rather help you plan it than have it be a surprise. The neighbourhood Bang Por is a quiet residential stretch of coastline, mostly homes rather than hotels. The beach dogs A few gentle beach dogs are part of life on Bang Por and will probably say hello on your walks. They’re friendly and harmless, so we ask that you don’t feed them or invite them inside. Registration Thai law requires us to register all international guests with immigration, so we’ll ask for a photo of each passport before arrival.

THE AREA Bang Por is the quiet side of Koh Samui. An uncrowded stretch of the north coast looking across to Koh Phangan, with sunsets over the Ang Thong Marine Park and a beach you can walk along to half a dozen restaurants with your feet still sandy. Day to day, everything is closer than it looks. Convenience stores, pharmacies, fruit stands, laundry and ATMs are all a few minutes away. Maenam has the banks and the bigger supermarkets, and its Thursday walking street is worth building your week around. For a proper evening out, Fisherman’s Village in Bophut is about fifteen minutes down the road.
Guest Access
The whole villa is yours, inside and out. Both bedrooms upstairs, the kitchen, sunken living room and dining room downstairs, the pool, the sala and the loungers on the sand. Private parking at the villa, so there’s no hunting for a spot. The only thing that isn’t yours is a small storage room off the car port, which stays locked and holds our maintenance gear. Nothing in there you’ll need, and if you do need something, we’re five minutes away.

GETTING AROUND A car or scooter is the best way to see the island properly, and we can have one delivered to the villa before you arrive. For everything else Grab works well here, and when you’d rather not think about it at all, Pon, our driver, is a message away. Songthaews run along the main road if you want the local version. The airport is about thirty minutes. What changed: the middle section was a shopping list of amenities, which reads as inventory rather than hospitality. Now each paragraph makes a claim and then backs it. And “worth building your week around” does more work than “worth timing” because it tells them to plan around it rather than merely notice it.
